Jim Walmsley Takes First at Woody Greeno InvitationalPublished by
LINCOLN, Neb. - With a time of 24:43.6, Air Force junior cross country runner Jim Walmsley won the men's 8000-meter race at the Woody Greeno Invitational in Lincoln, Neb., on Saturday, Sept. 18. In addition to clocking the best time in a field of 295 runners, Walmsley also recorded the 17th fastest time ever on the Pioneer Park course. In the first 8K race of the season for the Air Force men, Walmsley bettered the field of 295 by 11 seconds. He was one of four Falcons to finish within the top 25, while all five scoring runners placed within the top 30. Sophomore Jeremy Drenckhahn placed 15th in 25:49.4, while senior Justin Tyner and freshman Isaiah Bragg placed 24th (26:04.3) and 25th (26:07.6), respectively. Sophomore Andrew Quallio rounded out the top five finishers with a 28th-place time of 26:10.9. Senior Katherine Ward paced the women's team with a time of 22:34.4 to finish 11th in the field of 211 - and third among University Division runners. Junior Katie Carroll placed 14th in 22:44.0, while sophomore Jen Bremser finished 17th with a time of 22:59.3.
